Mycelx* is the most technically advanced and efficient product available anywhere for immobilizing oil. Various substrate media are infused with patented Mycelx* chemistry and designed for specific oil remediation tasks. Using Mycelx*, every cleanup task from sheen to tarballs can be quickly, efficiently and economically addressed. Mycelx* differs from the typical melt-blown polypropylene products, which are slow, inefficient and expensive. Coalescers typically use polypropylene plates to collect oil. Mycelx* patented chemistry instantly renders oils hydrophobic and visoelastic. Oil will instantly bond to any Mycelx* treated substrate, thereby preventing sinking, emulsification, weathering, sheen and tarball formation. Many natural or synthetic substrates can be infused, allowing specific formulations to be produced to address various applications. Surface remediation applications can vary by type of oil (heavier oils have much higher surface tension and lower buoyancy, which reduces the effectiveness of other materials which rely on capillary action). Mycelx* infused products maximize response effectiveness, while reducing material usage (cost), drag-out water, waste generation and environmental damage. Water-soluble oils in cutting fluids or coolants have a strong bond to the water and are not removed by Mycelx*; however, tramp oils will be removed.
